KLL Awards 2010 Scholarship!
The Overland Park-based Kelly Lynn Lutz Foundation is pleased to announce that Kaitlin Landes, of Overland Park, Kansas, is the 2010 recipient of the Foundation’s scholarship award. Ms. Landes, who lost her father to leukemia in 1999, recently graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School with a 3.96 grade point average. She plans to attend Kansas State University in the fall. The KLL Foundation scholarship will provide her financial support totaling $1000 per year, an award that is renewable for four years.
“In only our second year, we were pleased to have several very qualified candidates interested in the Foundation’s mission and support,” said Shane Lutz, president of the KLL Scholarship Foundation. Mr. Lutz and his family started the foundation following the death of his wife, Kelly, who lost her battle with breast cancer on May 9, 2008.
“Kaitlin is a fantastic young lady whose story spoke to each of us at the Foundation. She is involved with her school, her church and is active in theater and music. We are very proud to offer her our unanimous support in Kelly’s name,” continued Mr. Lutz.
Ms. Landes lost her father to leukemia in 1999 when she was six years old and has one younger brother.
“Losing my dad has made good and bad differences in my life and has taught me to make the most of tough situations,” said Ms. Landes. “Through all this I’ve grown in my faith and learned to trust in God’s plans. I’ve grown very close to my mother and, though my dad isn’t around, I try to live a life that he would be proud of.”
